北海道大学医学部保健学科看護学専攻HPへようこそ
北海道大学の歴史は、日本最初の近代的大学として1876年に設立された札幌農学校に遡ります。爾来、帝国大学を経て新制大学に至るなかで、本専攻は、1920年、北海道大学医学部附属医院看護法講習科を源流として発展し、2003年10月に設置されました。本専攻は、大学院に重点を置く、日本屈指の基幹総合大学の医学部保健学科に立脚する立場であり、看護学はもとより、保健学、医学ならびにさまざまな関連学問分野の基盤のもと、「フロンティア精神」を基本理念の一つに掲げ、教育、研究、社会貢献、国際貢献に積極的に取り組んでおります。
さて、Nursingとは、人々が出生し、成長・発達し、健康を増進・維持し、ときに病いや障がいに対峙し、そして死に際する人生のあらゆる段階において人々と共にあり、かつ人々の生命、生活、人生を、意味あらしめる助けをする程の重い使命を持つ、サイエンスでありアートであります。すでに言い古された表現ではありますが、今日、世界の医療技術は著しい発展を遂げ、人々の寿命は延長し、健康における人々の課題は多様に、かつ高度になりました。すなわちNursingに求められる役割は、今後ますます多様に、かつ高度に、また厳粛に、さらに深遠なものとなりましょう。
そのときにあたり、本専攻は、Nursing Scienceの先端を切り拓くべく、持てる力を余すことなく、教育、研究、社会貢献、国際貢献に一層取り組んで参ります。どうぞご期待ください。

Welcome to our HP
The history of Hokkaido University dates back to the establishment of Sapporo Agricultural College in 1876, the first modern university in Japan. Stemming from this, through the history of the Imperial University to the Comprehensive University, our department was established in October 2003, tracing its origins to the nursing law training course established in preparation for the Hokkaido University Faculty of Medicine Affiliated Hospital in 1920. Conscious of our position rooted in the Faculty of Medicine’s Department of Health Sciences, a leading graduate school of a core comprehensive university in Japan, we embrace the “Frontier Spirit” as one of our fundamental principles. We actively engage in education, research, social contributions, and international contributions, not only in nursing but also in health sciences, medicine, and various related academic fields.
Now, Nursing is considered a science and art with a mission to be present alongside individuals throughout every stage of life – from birth, growth, and development, to promoting and maintaining health, facing illness or disability when necessary, and providing meaningful significance to their lives and existence. Although this expression may sound cliché, today, medical technology worldwide has made remarkable advancements, leading to an extension of people’s lifespans, while health-related challenges have become more diverse and sophisticated. Thus, the role expected of Nursing is becoming increasingly diverse, advanced, solemn, and profound.
At this moment, we will redouble our efforts to pioneer the forefront of Nursing Science through education, research, social contributions, and international endeavors. Please look forward to our challenge.
